PROJECT

CFMEU NSW Head Office Relocation

PROJECT DATES

July - September 2018

In 2018, their NSW branch’s head office relocated to Pyrmont, Sydney, and Converged Technology was tasked with developing a comprehensive audio-visual strategy that supported collaboration within and between their various meeting spaces.

In partnership with leading Unified Communications company, IComm, Converged Technology designed and implemented a range of solutions and workplace technologies to collaborate with their existing Office 365 and Skype for Business UC/telephony solution, and seamlessly integrate with the Microsoft stack.

RealPresence Trio 8800 devices were deployed within small meeting rooms, and Polycom Group codecs in the boardroom and training rooms to support the more complex audio-visual integration requirements, while IComm supplied Polycom video conferencing equipment.

CFMEU wanted a robust room booking solution that would support Office 365, so Converged Technology supplied Crestron TSS-7 room booking panels with an LED lightbar accessory in every bookable meeting space to support office 365. Barco ClickShare was then deployed into each meeting room to provide staff and guests with best-in-class, clutter-free wireless presentation capabilities.

In the reception area, CFMEU wanted an impressive visual display and the ability to play a variety of different promotional material, along with free-to-air content, which involved installing a 2x2 LG video wall with a BrightSign digital signage appliance.

The boardroom was a large meeting space with operable wall and overflow capabilities in which CFMEU requested a clean aesthetic with video conferencing large format presentation capabilities. Converged Technology designed and implemented a modern Boardroom with projection, Barco ClickShare wireless presentation, and Shure MXA910 microphone array with a Sennheiser Speechline handheld microphone for sound reinforcement. IComm then provided Polycom Group 500 video conferencing to round out the solution.

Converged Technology then deployed their best-in-class Crestron control system, which equips CFMEU staff with a familiar touch panel interface that allows quick and easy access to all of the in-room functionality without unnecessary complexity.

In the training rooms – a large two-part meeting space with operable wall – CFMEU had requested video conferencing capabilities with internal and external parties, and the ability for trainers to present content easily and be heard clearly through both training areas. In addition, all equipment was to be wireless or affixed to walls to best support multiple seating arrangements. Finally, the system should support room combinations such that Training Room 1 could overflow to Training Room 2 in order to support large events and conferences.

In this case, Crestron matrix switching and control, Sennheiser portable lectern and handheld microphones, and Barco ClickShare wireless presentation with Crestron TSS-902 wireless touch panels were supplied. IComm then provided the Polycom Group 500 codecs and Starfleaf video conferencing bridge to complete the solution. Converged Technology then deployed their best-in-class Crestron control system atop Crestron TSS-902 wireless touch panels, providing portability and control from both training rooms.

A number of different room solutions were implemented to support the new CFMEU NSW head office in Pyrmont Sydney.
