Innovative Solutions For Salter Brothers’ Latest Venture

Salter Brothers has taken business class to a whole new level, elevating Melbourne's Crowne Plaza precinct from a hotel district into an iconic destination. As part of a recent major refurbishment, it sought an expert partnership with Converged Technology to render world-class audio-visual capabilities and experiences.

Hospitality and entertainment venues come with their own set of technical demands. Late in the building phase, we were approached directly by Salter Brothers to develop a custom audio-visual fit out for Yugo Restaurant, Pow Wow and Dive Bar – three distinct entertainment spaces located at Crowne Plaza in Melbourne. This was an exciting challenge with an aggressive timeline. Nevertheless we willingly accepted it and moved swiftly to devise a diverse strategy.

Our Aim:

To produce an integrated technical solution for the entire venue. Specifically, an intelligent system offering complete functionality yet requiring minimal in-house modification.

Our Solution:

After consultation with the client, we set to work on developing several key technology elements, while ensuring the AV system would be flexible and thorough in achieving all desired outcomes.

A custom control GUI was created for the venue to ensure the entire system was unified, user-friendly, and simple for staff to operate.
An intuitive digital signage platform was designed, allowing staff to manage content on the fly, including digital signage and menu boards.
For the presentation of live music, we provided PA speakers and a mixing desk in a purpose-built Pelican case to create a designated DJ area in the bar.
For the broadcasting of content over an IP system, we deployed Crestron NVX to integrate with the clients existing IPTV headend to allow consistent real-time sharing of high-quality video across the network.
Lastly, with a sharp focus on producing seamless network integration, we worked hand in hand with the client’s IT department to ensure all systems were reliably integrated onto the existing corporate network, thereby supporting a single and central hub for controlling all devices
