Tamworth Regional Council
Council Chamber - AV Upgrade
When Tamworth Regional Council embarked on a refit of their Council Chamber, they needed a state-of-the-art audiovisual solution to match. The goal? Deliver a robust, future-proof system that enabled crystal-clear communication, seamless remote access, and live-streaming capabilities — all within a user-friendly platform.
Did we mention Tamworth is Australia’s Country Music Capital? We saw this as the perfect opportunity to bring together two of our great loves: country and cutting-edge AV. So we packed our gear, hit the road, and got ready to amplify the council's capabilities.

Tamworth Council needed an AV solution that could:
-
Support both formal Council Meetings and internal meetings
-
Feature portable, easily stored microphones and equipment
-
Provide full-room audio coverage, including the public gallery
-
Enable all attendees to clearly see and hear proceedings
-
Ensure the Mayor and Councillors were clearly captured for live streaming
-
Support remote participation via Microsoft Teams
-
Offer local meeting recording and reliable live streaming
-
Be simple and intuitive for staff to operate
THE BRIEF:
We set out to meet the client’s brief in exacting detail. We’ve delivered AV solutions to many council chambers, so we know what works — and what doesn’t — in these critical spaces. Our goal was to implement a system that worked transparently: technically proficient with with fantastic audio and vide but incredibly easy to use.
Key to this was a clean, intuitive user interface. The Crestron 10” touch panel became the primary point of interaction, offering simplified live-streaming, content routing, and volume control. Behind the scenes, advanced audio and video infrastructure ensured high performance without overwhelming the user.
Being over 1,100km from our Melbourne HQ, we knew this installation had to be bulletproof from day one.
OUR APPROACH

We designed the solution with separate cameras capturing the Mayor and assembled councillors, ensuring they were represented clearly on the live stream. Audio was handled seamlessly by Q-SYS with a pair of S402T covering the front of room and another pair located at the rear of the room for the seated gallery. The Bosch DICENTIS Wireless Conference System was the perfect solution, proving both flexibility and crystal clear microphone pickup.
The Crestron Flex platform provided integration into Microsoft Teams allowing Councillors to join Council Meetings remotely. A purpose-built Graphical User Interface was then developed for Tamworth using the Crestron RMC4 and 10” touch panel, which provided all live-streaming controls, content switching, volume controls whilst interfacing with the Crestron Flex system to determine if remote Councillors were attending and automatically selecting the most appropriate layout for the live stream.
The Marshal and Lumens PTZ camera provided dedicated shots of the Mayor and Councillors respectively, with the AV ProEdge 8x8 HDBase-T matrix switcher doing the heavy lifting on the vision distribution workload.
A Crestron AirMedia 3100 solution was deployed Councillors with the flexibility to present content wirelessly from their laptops.
The Lumens LC-200 provided the bulk of the video capture and composition workload, also featuring local recording capability whilst simultaneously streaming to YouTube.
